Buying Polo Ponies in the West by Frederic Remington

Framed in a beautiful, dark, handmade timber and finished with a brass painting nameplate, this piece features a work by Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861–1909), the American artist who captured the drama and grit of the Old West.

Remington was a painter, illustrator, sculptor and writer, celebrated for his dynamic scenes of horsemen, Native Americans and cavalry in the closing years of the 19th century. Sent West as an artist-correspondent in the 1880s, he returned with sketches, photographs and artifacts that gave his work a rare authenticity and immediacy.

His images of powerful horses, open country and riders in motion sit naturally alongside the spirit of polo, where speed, courage and connection between horse and rider are paramount. This framed Remington canvas is a nod to that heritage, and to the timeless partnership at the heart of polo.
